Kwantificering van DNA dubbelstrengs breuken aan de hand van γH2AX foci is uitgegroeid tot een instrument van onschatbare waarde, met name in de biologie straling, voor de evaluatie van weefsel stralingsgevoeligheid en de effecten van de straling wijzigen van verbindingen.
