Wij rapporteren de ontwikkeling van een negatieve selectie systeem in<em> E. histolytica</em> Op basis van transgene expressie van een chimeer eiwit (FCU1) en selectie met de prodrug 5-fluorocytosine. De FCU1 eiwit is een fusie van gist cytosine en uracil deaminase fosforibosyl. Expressie van FCU1 resulteerde in een verhoogde<em> E. histolytica</em> Gevoeligheid voor 5-fluorocytosine.
