רטרווירוסים אנושיים אנדוגני (HERV), אשר תופסים 8% של הגנום האנושי, לשמור על יכולות קידוד נדירות אבל מאה אלף חזרות ארוכות מסוף (LTRs). Microarray Affymetrix מותאם אישית תוכנן כדי לזהות ביטוי לוקוס HERV הבודד והיה בשימוש ברקמות סרטן ערמונית כהוכחה של מושג למחקרים קליניים בעתיד.
