Mänsklig infektion med Entamoeba histolytica leder till amoebiasis, en viktig orsak till diarré i tropiska länder. Infektion initieras av patogen interaktioner med intestinala epitelceller, provocera öppnandet av cell-cellkontakter och därmed diarré, ibland följt av leverinfektion. Den här artikeln innehåller en modell för att bedöma de tidiga värd-patogen interaktioner för att förbättra vår förståelse av amoebiasis patogenes.
