De bottleneck voor mobiele 3D-elektronenmicroscopie is feature extractie (segmentatie) in zeer complexe 3D-density maps. We hebben een set van criteria, waarin aanbevelingen worden gedaan met betrekking tot welke segmentatie aanpak (handmatig, semi-automatisch of automatisch) is het meest geschikt voor verschillende soorten data ontwikkeld, en zo een uitgangspunt voor effectieve segmentatie.
