Den direkte hurtige immun histokemiske test (DRIT) tilbyder en verdensorganisation for dyresundhed og Verdenssundhedsorganisationen (OIE/WHO) anerkendt alternativ til den direkte fluorescerende antistof (DFA) test for rabies diagnose. Denne test giver mulighed for felt-baserede applikationer, der kan udføres i ca 1 h på hjernen indtryk ved hjælp af lys mikroskopi.
