Dit werk beschrijft protocollen voor de bereiding van magnetische nanodeeltjes, de coating met SiO2, gevolgd door de amine functionalisatie met (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES) en de vermenging met deferoxamine met behulp van een succinyl moiety als linker. Een diepe structurele karakteriseringsbeschrijving en een vangstbacteriëntest met behulp van Y. enterocolitica voor alle tussenliggende nanodeeltjes en de uiteindelijke conjugaat worden ook in detail beschreven.
