Denne protokol er til bestemmelse af lipider i havvand og biologiske prøver. Lipider i filtrater ekstraheres med chloroform eller blandinger af chloroform og methanol i tilfælde af faste stoffer. Lipid klasser måles ved stang tynd-lag kromatografi med flamme ionisering afsløring og deres sum giver det samlede lipid indhold.
