Dit rapport beschrijft technieken om gesulfateerde glycosaminoglycanen (GAG's) uit biologische monsters te isoleren en te zuiveren en een polyacrylamidegel-elektroforesebenadering om hun grootte te benaderen. GAG's dragen bij aan de weefselstructuur en beïnvloeden signaleringsprocessen via elektrostatische interactie met eiwitten. GAG-polymeerlengte draagt bij aan hun bindingsaffiniteit voor verwante liganden.
