Dit protocol beschrijft hoe het Microbial Microdroplet Culture-systeem (MMC) kan worden gebruikt om geautomatiseerde microbiële teelt en adaptieve evolutie uit te voeren. MMC kan micro-organismen automatisch en continu cultiveren en subcultureren en online hun groei volgen met een relatief hoge doorvoer en goede parallellisatie, waardoor het arbeids- en reagensverbruik wordt verminderd.
