באופן מסורתי, תרבית תאים מבוצעת על מצעים מישוריים המחקים בצורה גרועה את הסביבה הטבעית של תאים in vivo. כאן אנו מתארים שיטה לייצור מצעי תרביות תאים עם גיאומטריות מעוגלות רלוונטיות מבחינה פיזיולוגית וחלבונים חוץ-תאיים מיקרו-פטרייתיים, המאפשרת חקירה שיטתית של חישה תאית של רמזים חוץ-תאיים אלה.
