Multicellulære 3D-tumorsfæroider blev fremstillet med lungeadenocarcinomceller, fibroblaster og monocytter efterfulgt af isolering af kræftassocierede fibroblaster (CAF'er) fra disse sfæroider. Isolerede CAF'er blev sammenlignet med normale fibroblaster for at vurdere mitokondriel sundhed ved at studere mitokondrietransmembranpotentialet, reaktive iltarter og enzymatiske aktiviteter.
