Bu çalışmada, periodontitis indüksiyonunun sıçan modeli, ilk maksiller azı dişlerinin etrafında 14 gün boyunca, Porphyromonas gingivalis'ten türetilen tekrarlayan lipopolisakkarit enjeksiyonları ve geciktirici ligatür kombinasyonu ile sunulmuştur. Ligasyon ve LPS enjeksiyon teknikleri peridonti indüklemede etkiliydi, bu da alveoler kemik kaybı ve inflamasyona neden oldu.
