Abbiamo usato sincrotrone tomografia a raggi X alla European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) a non invasivo produrre set di dati 3D tomografiche con un pixel-risoluzione di 0.7μm. Utilizzando il software di rendering del volume, questo permette la ricostruzione di strutture interne allo stato naturale, senza gli artefatti prodotti dal sezionamento istologico.
