This method offers a comprehensive vision assessment for functional impairments and dysfunctions of the visual system. Medicine The Use of Mixed Reality in Custom-Made Revision Hip Arthroplasty: A First Case Report Paweł Łęgosz1, Krzysztof Starszak1,2, Maciej Stanuch3,4, Maciej Otworowski1, Łukasz Pulik1, Adriana Złahoda-Huzior3,4, Andrzej Skalski3,4 1Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of the Musculoskeletal System, Infant Jesus Teaching Hospital, Medical University of Warsaw, 2Department of Human Anatomy, Medical University of Silesia, 3Department of Measurement and Electronics, AGH University of Science and Technology, 4MedApp S.A. A complex revision hip arthroplasty was performed using a custom-made implant and mixed reality technology. According to the authors' knowledge, this is the first report of such procedure described in the literature. Medicine The Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump Ganesh Gajanan1, Emmanouil S. Brilakis2, Jolanta M. It acts by counterpulsation, inflating at the onset of diastole, augmenting diastolic aortic pressure and improving coronary blood flow and systemic perfusion, and deflating before systole, reducing left ventricular afterload. Medicine An In Vivo Method for Evaluating the Gut-Blood Barrier and Liver Metabolism of Microbiota Products Kinga Jaworska1, Tomasz Huc1, Marta Gawrys1, Maksymilian Onyszkiewicz1, Emilia Samborowska2, Marcin Ufnal1 1Department of Experimental Physiology and Pathophysiology, Laboratory of Centre for Preclinical Research, Medical University of Warsaw, 2Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences The access of nutrients, microbiota metabolites and medicines to the circulation is controlled by the gut-blood barrier (GBB). We describe a direct method for measuring the GBB permeability in vivo, which, in contrast to commonly used indirect methods, is virtually not affected by liver and kidney functions.
