Målet med protokollet är att ge en metod för att producera icke-invasiva neuronala lesioner i hjärnan. Metoden använder Magnetisk resonans-guidad fokuserad ultraljud (MRgFUS) för att öppna blodhjärnbarriären på ett övergående och fokalt sätt, för att leverera ett cirkulerande neurotoxin till hjärnan parenkym.
