De organische elektrochemische transistor is geïntegreerd met levende cellen en gebruikt om te controleren ion flux in de maag epitheliale barrière. In deze studie, een toename ionenflux betrekking tot verstoring van tight junctions, geïnduceerd door de aanwezigheid van calcium chelator EGTA (ethyleenglycol-bis (beta-aminoethylether)-N, N, N ', N'-tetra azijnzuur zuur), gemeten.
