We beschrijven een gemodificeerde kleinschalige extractie en colorimetrische vitrotests van lactaat en pyruvaat in de nematode C. elegans. Bij gebruik van commerciële assay kits, is de technische ontwikkeling van hun gevoeligheid en nauwkeurigheid belangrijk. Eiwit neerslag in extractie is de meest kritische stap voor de kwantitatieve bepaling van intracellulaire metabolieten.
