Diese Arbeit beschreibt ein neuartiges Mausmodell für den Übergang von Pneumokokken von einem asymptomatischen Kolonisator zu einem krankheitsverursachenden Erreger während einer Virusinfektion. Dieses Modell kann leicht angepasst werden, um polymikrobielle und Wirt-Pathogen-Interaktionen während der verschiedenen Phasen des Krankheitsverlaufs und über verschiedene Wirte hinweg zu untersuchen.
