In this video, we administer methylene blue dye injection into the urinary tract of a perinatal embryonic mouse to assess congenital anomalies related to urinary tract obstruction.

Protocol

All procedures involving animal models have been reviewed by the local institutional animal care committee and the JoVE veterinary review board 1. Preparation of Methylene Blue Dye Solution Measure 0.1 g methylene blue powder. Dissolve the methylene blue in 10 mL normal saline or 1x phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) completely by vortexing.
