SNAP-tag en CLIP-tag eiwit labeling systemen maken het mogelijk de specifieke, covalente aanhechting van moleculen, inclusief fluorescente kleurstoffen, om een eiwit van interesse in levende cellen. Eenmaal gekloond en uitgedrukt, kunnen de gelabelde eiwit gebruikt worden met een verscheidenheid van substraten voor tal van downstream-applicaties zonder opnieuw te klonen.
