Zell-vermittelten Lymphozytotoxizität (CML)-Assays können verwendet werden, um autoreaktive Reaktionen und Studium Mechanismen des Zelltods in vitro zu testen. Allerdings kann die Verwendung lebender Zellen konfokale mikroskopische Bildgebung mit Fluoreszenzfarbstoffen, die Art und Kinetik der Zelltod als auch die Wege genutzt näher untersucht werden.
