Hier wordt een protocol gepresenteerd om primaire iris- en retinale pigmentepitheelcellen van verschillende zoogdieren (muizen, ratten, konijnen, varkens en runderen) te isoleren en te transfecteren. De methode is bij uitstek geschikt om oculaire gentherapiebenaderingen te bestuderen in verschillende opstellingen voor ex vivo analyses en in vivo studies die overdraagbaar zijn op mensen.
