Dit protocol beschrijft een methode om een menselijk bloed-hersenbarrière (BBB) in vitro model vast te stellen. De endotheelcellen en pericyten worden aan elke kant van een insertfilter (bloedcompartiment) gezaaid en astrocyten worden in de onderste put (hersencompartiment) gezaaid. Het gekarakteriseerde model werd gebruikt voor nanodeeltjestransportexperimenten.
