De standaard membraanvoedingstest (SMFA) wordt beschouwd als de gouden standaard voor de beoordeling en identificatie van potentiële antimalariaverbindingen. Dit kunstmatige voedingssysteem wordt gebruikt om muggen te infecteren om de effecten van dergelijke verbindingen op de intensiteit en prevalentie van de Plasmodium falciparum-parasiet verder te evalueren.
