En metod med gröna kaffefrukter (GFs) utvecklades för att testa toxiciteten hos insekticider mot kaffebärsborraren (CBB). Insekticider eller giftiga ämnen applicerades på desinficerade GFs före eller efter CBB-angrepp. Insektsdödlighet, avstötningsförmåga och reproduktionskapacitet, förutom andra parametrar, utvärderades.
