Een nieuwe soort cellulaire prion eiwit (PrP<sup> C</sup>) Is onlangs geïdentificeerd in geïnfecteerde menselijke hersenen volgens de methoden beschreven. Deze methoden kunnen worden gebruikt om verschillende PrP soorten te isoleren, terwijl sommige van hen zijn ook bruikbaar bij het isoleren andere misgevouwen proteïneaggregaten uit menselijke hersenen.
