Twee technieken kunnen worden gebruikt om dit model te stellen: injectie van een kankercel suspensie in de blindedarmkeutels muur of transplantatie van een stukje van subcutane tumor op de blindedarm. Dit model is handig voor het bestuderen van de natuurlijke progressie van colorectale kanker en testen van nieuwe therapeutische middelen tegen colorectale kanker.
