Met behulp van moderne kunststof extrusie en printtechnologieën, is het nu mogelijk om snel en goedkoop te produceren fysische modellen van de X-ray CT-gegevens die in een laboratorium. De drie-dimensionale afdrukken van tomografische gegevens is een krachtige visualisatie, onderzoek, en een educatief instrument dat nu kan worden benaderd door de preklinische beeldvorming gemeenschap.
