Die Infektion des Menschen durch Entamoeba histolytica führt zu Amöbenruhr, eine Hauptursache für Durchfall in tropischen Ländern. Infektion durch Pathogen-Interaktionen mit Darmepithelzellen eingeleitet, provoziert die Öffnung der Zell-Zell-Kontakte und somit Durchfall, manchmal gefolgt von Leberinfektion. Dieser Artikel bietet ein Modell, um die frühen Wirt-Pathogen-Interaktionen zu bewerten, um unser Verständnis der Pathogenese Amöbenruhr zu verbessern.
