Presentert metoden benytter primere bestemt intern transkribert spacer regionen (ITS) ribosomal DNA (rDNA) gener. Metoden er egnet for pålitelig og følsom oppdagelsen av DNA forurensning i de fleste eukaryoter og prokaryoter.
