For at observere ultrakonstruktion af insektsensilla blev der i undersøgelsen fremlagt en prøveforberedelsesprotokol (SEM og TEM) for at observere ultrakonstruktion af insektsensilla. Tween 20 blev tilsat i fiksativ at undgå prøvedeformation i SEM. Fluorescensmikroskopi var nyttigt til at forbedre udskæringsnøjagtigheden i TEM.
