Een model dat het klinische scenario van brandwond en infectie nabootst, is noodzakelijk voor het bevorderen van brandwondenonderzoek. Het huidige protocol demonstreert een eenvoudig en reproduceerbaar rattenbrandinfectiemodel dat vergelijkbaar is met dat bij mensen. Dit vergemakkelijkt de studie van brandwonden en infecties na brandwond voor het ontwikkelen van nieuwe actuele antibioticabehandelingen.
