I denne undersøgelse præsenteres en rottemodel for induktion af parodontitis via en kombination af retentiv ligatur og gentagne injektioner af lipopolysaccharid afledt af Porphyromonas gingivalis, over 14 dage omkring de første maksillære molarer. Ligerings- og LPS-injektionsteknikkerne var effektive til at inducere peridontitis, hvilket resulterede i alveolært knogletab og betændelse.
