We gebruikten synchrotron X-ray tomografie bij de European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) naar niet-invasieve 3D tomografie datasets te produceren met een pixel-resolutie van 0.7μm. Met behulp van volume rendering software, dit maakt de reconstructie van de interne structuren in hun natuurlijke staat, zonder de artefacten die door histologische coupes.
