Profylaktisk och terapeutisk vaccination ofta misslyckas med att stimulera starka immunsvar på grund av vecka dränering av vaccinet till lymfkörtlar och följaktligen dålig medverkan av immunceller. Genom direkt injektion av vaccin till lymfkörtlarna, så kallade intralymfatisk injektion, vaccineffekt kan kraftigt förbättras och vaccindoser kan minskas.
