Detta protokoll beskriver en metod för att undersöka social hierarki i en råttmodell. Råttor utför en komplex dyk-för-mat uppgift där de bildar en distinkt hierarki enligt deras vilja att dyka under vattnet och simma för att få en matpellet. Denna metod används för att förstå beslutsfattande och sociala relationer bland mycket sociala djur i små grupper.
