Entomopatogene svampe har fået betydning som biologiske bekæmpelsesmidler for skadedyr i landbruget. I denne undersøgelse blev masseproduktionen af et tilstrækkeligt antal elastiske infektivende propaguler af sydafrikanske isolater af både Metarhizium robertsii og M. pinghaense til kommerciel anvendelse mod skadedyr med succes udført ved anvendelse af landbrugskornprodukter.
