Artikeln är baserad på skapandet av ett anpassat protokoll för att skanna, upptäcka, sortera och identifiera digitaliserade objekt som motsvarar bentiska flodmakroinvertebrater med hjälp av ett halvautomatiskt avbildningsförfarande. Denna procedur möjliggör förvärv av de individuella storleksfördelningarna och storleksmåtten för ett makroinvertebratsamhälle på cirka 1 timme.
