Biography

Denise Marston is a postdoctoral researcher and rabies test consultant in the UK OIE reference laboratory for rabies at APHA. As part of her role, Denise utilised primers designed for a TaqMan assay in a SYBR real-time RT-PCR assay, confirming its applicability as a pan-lyssavirus assay. Denise has been involved in the discovery and characterisation of a number of novel lyssavirus species, including Ikoma lyssavirus and Gannoruwa bat lyssavirus and has a keen interest in promoting the use of whole genome sequences for virus characterisation.
