Male beagle dogs were each implanted with an artificial nerve across a 10-mm gap in the left inferior alveolar nerve; left cervical sympathetic ganglion was blocked by injecting 99.5% ethanol via lateral thoracotomy. Developmental Biology Three-dimensional Inflammatory Human Tissue Equivalents of Gingiva Li Xiao1, Hisashi Okamura2, Yasuo Kumazawa2 1Department of Pharmacology, The Nippon Dental University, 2Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, The Nippon Dental University Hospital The goal of the protocol is to build an inflammatory human gingiva model in vitro. This tissue model co-cultivates three types of human cells, HaCaT keratinocytes, gingival fibroblasts, and THP-1 macrophages, under three-dimensional conditions. This model can be applied to investigating periodontal diseases, such as gingivitis and periodontitis.
