He received his bachelor degree in Chemistry, Bacteriology and Parasitology and his Ph D in Immunology from the National School of Biological Sciences, National Polytechnic Institute in Mexico City, Mexico. In 2002, He joined as a postdoctoral fellow to Dr. Troy Randall’s lab at Trudeau Institute, where he studied the role of homeostatic chemokines in the orchestration of local immunity against pulmonary pathogens. He moved in 2009 with Troy Randall’s lab to the University of Rochester to continue investigating the mechanisms involved in the formation, organization and functions of tertiary lymphoid organs. In 2012, he joined Dr. Jennifer Anolik’s lab to study the cellular and molecular mechanisms of pathogenesis in auto-immune diseases. Currently, he is interested on understanding the complex interactions of immune cells in target tissues and how they participate in the local induction of protective or pathological immune responses in mouse model and human diseases.
