Lenise Jihe Kim Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Department of Medicine Johns Hopkins University Biography Publications Institution JoVE Articles Lenise Jihe KimPhD Lenise Jihe Kim is a Postdoctoral fellow at Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Department of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. She graduated with a degree in Biomedicine from Universidade Federal de Ciências da Saúde de Porto Alegre and holds a Technologist degree in Biotechnology from Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia, Porto Alegre, Brazil. She has a Master’s degree and a PhD from the Division of Sleep Medicine, Department of Psychobiology, Universidade Federal de São Paulo, Sao Paulo, Brazil.Dr. Kim has a broad background in Physiology and Biotechnology, specializing in cardiorespiratory pathophysiology of sleep disordered breathing. Dr. Kim has received an extensive training in both animal models and metabolic complications of sleep apnea, and in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics. In her current Postdoctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins University, she has been pursuing the study of novel mechanisms by which leptin acts peripherally in carotid bodies to induce hypertension and sleep disordered breathing in obesity.
