Nicole Dünker Institute for Anatomy, Department of Neuroanatomy University of Duisburg-Essen Biography Publications Institution JoVE Articles Nicole Dünker Nicole Dünker is head of the Department of Neuroanatomy at the University Hospital Essen, which belongs to the University of Duisburg-Essen. She studied biology in Darmstadt and graduated 1993 with Diploma in Biology. She obtained her PhD in 1998 at the TU Darmstadt. After a stay at the UC Berkeley, California and at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, she did her final postdoctoral years at the Institute for Anatomy at the University Hospital Homburg Saar and finally at the Georg August University Goettingen. In 2003 she received her Venia legendi for Anatomy and since 2004 she is a full professor for Neuroanatomy at the Institute for Anatomy of University of Duisburg-Essen.Nicole Dünker`s scientific interests are the molecular mechanisms underlying the etiology and the progression of retinoblastoma (Rb), the most common intraocular tumor in children. Currently, her research focusses on the development of chemoresistances against drugs, commonly used in Rb treatment, utilizing in vitro analyses and in vivo / in ovo CAM-assays and as well as a currently established orthotopic rat model to lay ground for new therapeutic strategies for treatment of chemoresistant retinoblastomas.Link to Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Neuroanatomie-UK-Essen-519829041775947/ Publications Characterization of etoposide- and cisplatin-chemoresistant retinoblastoma cell lines.Oncol Rep. .
