Een combinatie van drie enkele golflengte korte gepulste lasers wordt gebruikt om coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (auto's) en dubbel-resonante CARS (DR-CARS) te genereren. Het verschil tussen deze signalen zorgt voor een verbeterde gevoeligheid voor anders moeilijk te coherent Raman signalen te detecteren, waardoor beeldvorming van zwakke Raman scatterers.
