Samenstelling van de polaire lipiden extracten en de vetzuursamenstelling van de individuele glycerolipids worden bepaald in een eenvoudige en robuuste lipide profilering experiment. Voor dit doel worden glycerolipids geïsoleerd door dunnelaagchromatografie en onderworpen aan transmethylation van hun acylgroepen. Fatty acyl methylesters worden gekwantificeerd door middel van gas-vloeistofchromatografie.
