Brug af specifikke glycosidases at fjerne sukker fra glycoproteiner efterfulgt af SDS-PAGE er en værdifuld metode til at påvise glycan ændringer på protein prøver og er et godt valg til den indledende glycobiology studier. Ændringer følgende deglycosylation kan detekteres som ændringer i gel mobilitet eller ved farvning med glycan følsomme reagenser.
