SILAC immunoprecipitatie experimenten vormen een krachtig middel voor het ontdekken van nieuwe eiwit: eiwit interacties. Doordat de nauwkeurige relatieve kwantificering van eiwitgehalte in zowel controle monsters, waar interacties gemakkelijk kan worden onderscheiden van experimenteel verontreinigingen en lage affiniteit interacties bewaard door het gebruik van minder stringente buffer omstandigheden.
