Aksenik ve gnotobiyotik koşullarda Drosophila melanogaster yetiştirme için bir yöntem sunulmuştur. Fly embriyolar, sodyum hipoklorit dechorionated steril diyet aseptik transfer ve kapalı kaplarda yetiştirilir. Bakteri ile diyet ve embriyolar aşılamak gnotobiyotik dernekler yol açar ve bakteriyel varlığı tüm vücut Drosophila homojenatları kaplama ile teyit edilir.
