She received her undergraduate degree in Biology from Faculdade de Ciências, Universidade de Lisboa, and a Ph.D. from the Faculdade de Medicina de Lisboa, Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal.During her training at L. Parreira’s Lab she explored the role of Notch Signaling in the Mammalian Hematopoietic System and studied the Nuclear Gene Topography of Malignant Cells in Human Leukaemia. As a post-doctoral fellow (2006 to 2009) at N. Le Doaurin’s lab, Institut de Neurobiologie Alfred Fessard, CNRS, France, she became acquainted with the Chicken-Quail System as a Chimeric Embryonic Model to investigate the early development of Thymus and Parathyroid Glands. She then returned to the Faculdade de Medicina de Lisboa where she is pursuing her research on thymus ontogeny and formation of endoderm-derived glands.
